Pope Leo XIV has proclaimed a special Franciscan Jubilee Year from January 10, 2026, to January 10, 2027, marking the 800th anniversary of the passing of St. Francis of Assisi. This extraordinary Jubilee invites all the faithful—especially members of the Franciscan family—to follow the Saint’s example of humility, peace, and holiness of life.
During the Jubilee, the Apostolic Penitentiary grants a plenary indulgence under the usual conditions to those who participate devoutly, including pilgrims who visit Franciscan churches or places dedicated to St. Francis. The grace of the Jubilee is also extended to the elderly, sick, and homebound who unite spiritually in prayer.
This Year of St. Francis, proclaimed by Pope Leo XIV, continues the spirit of the Ordinary Jubilee of 2025 and calls the Church to renewed charity, evangelical witness, and a deeper commitment to peace in today’s world.
