Peace and good to all! If you have noticed on the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi the “Young Bell/Cincinnati Bell” is now ringing for the 12 noon Angelus and for the Weekend/Sunday Masses. Thanks to the generosity and expertise of Dr. Steven Ball, DMA. the Director of Music from Saints Simon and Jude Cathedral Phoenix AZ. who worked on the bell to make it operational again. We can now have it sing. The link to the PDF document provide the prayers recited for the Noon Angelus.
Due to a significant decrease in enrollment, as well as lack of critical staffing to include a kindergarten teacher and principal, San Xavier Mission School was left with no other option but to suspend operations effective August 12. We are working with parents and guardians to help place the 45 children in another school, especially if they wish to transfer to a Catholic school. San Xavier parish has a fiduciary responsibility to be a good steward of parish and school finances. The fiscal forecast supports a temporary suspension of operations with the goal of renovating, reorganizing, and reopening in the future. The planning process to lay the foundation for long-term success has begun.

Kindergarten parents/guardians and new families will receive a link to Sign-Up Genius to schedule a school tour to ensure to help you and your children become familiar with the school and teacher(s). Tours will start on Monday, August 3rd. Remote learning that begins on August 5th will continue providing opportunities for both academic and spiritual growth. The SXMS’s Re-Entry Plan was developed in collaboration with the Department of Catholic Schools, other Catholic school leaders, and recommendations from the AZ Department of Education, AZ Department of Health Services, Pima County Health Department, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and the Tohono O’odham Nation, to best address the needs of our students, families and school personnel. The overall goal: maximize student learning in a setting that provides the necessary safeguards for all students and staff. Once Governor Doug Ducey allows campuses to reopen, know that SXMS is ready, and has advantages over many schools in implementing state, county, city, and district guidelines on health and safety: SXMS has a relatively small student population, large classrooms, and a large playground/field space. ...click the article title to read the full letter.
