Liturgy

The liturgical year offers a vibrant cycle of worship and reflection, guiding the faithful through the key events in the life of Jesus and the Church. Each season in the Church calendar brings a unique focus, helping Catholics deepen their spiritual journey.

Liturgical Seasons and Their Meaning:

Advent: Four weeks of hopeful anticipation before Christmas, inviting the faithful to prepare their hearts for the birth of Christ.

Christmas: Celebrates the birth of Jesus and his revelation to all, marking a time of joy and reflection on his coming.

Lent: A 40-day period of penance and self-reflection leading up to Easter, focused on spiritual growth and renewal.

Sacred Paschal Triduum: The three holiest days of the Church year—Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday—commemorating Jesus’ Passion, death, and Resurrection.

Easter: Fifty days of celebration of the Resurrection and the gift of the Holy Spirit, emphasizing joy and new life in Christ.

Ordinary Time: A time for exploring Jesus’ teachings and reflecting on his work, celebrated in two phases between Christmas and Lent and again between Easter and Advent.

Through the Church’s liturgical year, the life of Christ is not only remembered but lived anew by the faithful. Special feast days honoring Mary and the saints are woven throughout the year, celebrating the holiness of those who lived in Christ’s example and drawing believers closer to God’s grace.

We have people from all over the country, and the world, wanting to have their special event here at the Mission, and sometimes that can be accommodated, but the policy of the Mission is to only do Marriages, Baptisms, and so forth for the local community.
